英译汉“一词多义”选义刍议

摘　　要："一词多义"是一种普遍的语言现象,同样,英译汉时,词义选择的正确与否直接决定译文的质量。词语意义选择恰当,译文才能忠实地表达原文意思,否则译文将晦涩难懂。本文引用大量英译汉的例句,从词语的类别、搭配、作者立场、上下文、语法、习语以及专业领域七个方面探讨了选择和确定词义的方法。Polysemy is a common phenomenon of language. Whether the choice of word＇ s meaning is fight or not decides the quality of the translated text in English - Chinese translation. Only when the right meaning of the word is chosen, can the translated text faithfully express the idea of the original text. Otherwise the translated text would be difficult to understand. Quoting many examples of English - Chinese translation, this article inquires into the methods of choosing and determining the meaning of polysemy from such seven aspects as part of speech, collocation of words, position of author, context, grammar, idioms and specific field.
