摘　　要：毛姆的短篇小说《午餐》描写了一个一贫如洗的青年作家和一个暴饮如牛的女读者共进午餐的场景。小说把一顿午餐搬到了戏剧舞台上,成功地刻画了两个主人公,并且营造出一个复杂兼有讽刺意味的戏剧氛围。Maugham＇s short story The Luncheon describes the meeting of an impoverished young writer and his woman reader at luncheon. By applying the theatrical approach and other rhetorical devices, Maugham was able to put the luncheon on stage, to portray two vivid characters and build a complicated and satirical theatrical atmosphere.
