Objective It is to approach the relationship between the blood-fat and alzheimer disease (AD) or vascular dementia (VaD). Methods The levels of blood-fat of 23 patients with AD (AD group), 20 VaD (VaD group) and 30 normal controls (control gruop) were respectively measured and compared. Results The levels of TC and HDL- C in AD group were higher than that of control group (P (0.05), but there was no difference in the levels of TG, LDL- C with the two groups (P〉0.05) ; The levels of TC and TG in VaD group were higher than that of controls group(P〈0.05), but there was no difference in levels of HDL - C, LDL - C with the two groups; The level of HDL - C in AD group was higher than that of VaD group (P(0.05), there was no difference in levels of TC, TG, LDL-C between the two groups. Conclusion Patients with higher levels of blood-fat may has higher risk of AD and VaD than the normals, and decreased cholesterol levels may be beneficial for preventing and treating for AD and VaD.
