摘　　要：英语同义词是英语的一大特色,其数量多、词义丰富,既具有使表达灵活多样,增加文采的修辞作用;又具有使文章衔接连贯的语篇功能。重点探讨同义词的后一种功能,即通过同义词在句子、段落及篇章中的复现,实现语篇的衔接与连贯。As an important feature English synonyms are great in number and accurate in meaning, therefore, they can be used not only for the rhetoric effect but also for the cohesion and coherence of the text. This thesis mainly discusses the latter functian of the synonyms, that is, we can achieve the texture through the reiteration of synonyms in the sentence, paragraph and the whole text.
