摘　　要：研究者们一般认为,《简·爱》中疯女人伯莎的出现是这部小说的败笔。然而当我们认真审视这个艺术形象时,却发现它在女主人公简·爱的形象塑造过程中起着不容忽视的作用。它使简·爱的形象更为丰富和完善,并与简的形象构成了一个鲜明的对比。通过这种对比,作者夏洛蒂·勃朗特向我们展示了在女权主义运动的背景下,女性应当追求完美的人格和独立的自我价值的妇女观。It is generally held by researchers that the presence of madwoman Bertha in Jane Eyre is a flaw in the novel. However, when taking a close look at the artistic image, we find that the role it plays in portraying the character of heroine Jane Eyre should not be overlooked. Not only does it make the image of Jane more enriched and more complete, it also constitutes a sharp contrast with Jane. What the author Charlotte Bronte wants to convey through the contrast is that against the background of feminist movement, women are supposed to pursue personality perfection, independence and unique value of existence.
