摘  要:Objective and Methods Lung cancer has a fastest growing rate of morbidity and mortality among malignant tumors and poses a great threat to the human health. Chemotherapy, as oneObjective and Methods Lung cancer has a fastest growing rate of morbidity and mortality among malignant tumors and poses a great threat to the human health. Chemotherapy, as one of three major therapies, plays an important role in the treatment of lung cancer. However, a therapeutic plateau has been reached with classical cytotoxic drugs. Therafore, research and development of natural anti-lung cancer drug with minimal toxicity and maximal efficacy represents an urgent topic and frostline in developing anti-cancer drugs. Current researches showed that methylselenium acid (MSA) could inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis of a wide range of tumors such as prostate cancer and breast cancer. Our recent studies indicated that MSA could markedly inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis of L9981 cell line, a human high metastasis large cell lung cancer cell line, A great line of evidences suggested that the proliferation-inhibiting and apoptosis-inducing effects of MSA are associated with the cell cycle arrest and activation of apoptosis-related pathways, and the underlying mechanisms vary in different tumor cells.
