Surface Modification of Polyethylene Membrane by Adsorption of Tween 20 to Improve Antifouling Characteristics in a Bioreactor

摘  要:通过物理吸附Tween20对聚乙烯中空纤维微孔膜(polyethylene hollow fiber microporous membranes,PEHFMM)进行表面改性。衰减全反射傅立叶变换红外光谱(attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,FT-IR/ATR)和场发射扫描电子显微镜(field emission scanning electron microscopy,FE-SEM)观察结果表明:吐温20有效地吸附到了PEHFMM上。采用停滴法测定水接触角(contact angle,CA)以表征膜表面的亲水性。数据显示:30℃时随着吸附量的增加膜的水接触角先降后升并出现最低值;40℃吸附时水接触角则单值下降直至稳定。为建立吸附量与膜生物反应器(membrane bioreactor,MBR)中膜污染作用之间的关系,使用人工污水进行了活性污泥过滤实验。结果发现:吐温20吸附量大约是100~200μmol/g时可以明显地提高膜在MBR中的抗污染能力。Surface modification by physical adsorption Tween 20 was accomplished on polyethylene hollow fiber microporous membranes (PEHFMMs). Attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR/ATR) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) were used to characterize the chemical structure and surface morphology of the membranes. Water contact angle (CA) was measured by sessile drop method to reflect hydrophilic property of membrane. To assess the relation between adsorption Tween 20 amount onto the membrane surface and membrane fouling degree in a bioreactor, a filtration test of activated sludge process was done using synthetic wastewater. The spectrograms recorded by FT-IR/ATR and images recorded by FE-SEM showed that the adsorption Tween 20 onto PEHFMMs surface was effective. The water CA data indicated that the hydrophilic property of membrane first raised up to the highest value and then lowered down at 30℃, but raised stowly up to the stable value at 40℃ with the increase of adsorption Tween 20 amount onto the membrane. Based on the activated sludge test, it was found that stronger antifouling action in MBR mainly comes from PEHFMMs adsorption Tween 20 about 100-200μmol/g on the surface.
