摘　　要：《美国丽人》(American Beauty)表面描绘一幅幅青春骚动、中年危机、婚姻纠纷、婚外恋、同性恋以及与之相关的人际纠葛、爱情辛酸、性和色情的生活画面,实质则表现对政治、经济、意识形态等警世醒世的价值评判;塑造现代社会寻求突破、追求美好理想的人物形象;创造出悲情浪漫的美学思想;凸现富有表现力的后现代艺术创造。American Beauty describes some life pictures about youth tumult, mid-life crisis, marital dispute, extra marital affairs, homosexuality, as well as interpersonal turmoil, love defeat, sex and pornography. In fact, this film expresses value of politics, economy, ideology and so on. It creates characters of seeking the breakthrough and searching for bright future, shows the esthetics thought of pathos and romance. It is a prominent expressive force of postmodern art.
