摘 要:在中国研究西方哲学,单纯依赖西方哲学的中文译本往往会使思想误入歧途:西方哲学中的一些概念区分往往不容易在汉语中妥善安置;西方哲学中有些与西方语言和文化难解难分的问题和概念,尤其不容易显示其在汉语世界的意义。西方哲学研究所蕴涵的这些思想风险,尽管很难完全避免,却应该作妥善应对,比如读者对译本须谨慎选择、对译文须小心阅读,尤其是译者对文本须透彻理解、对用词须仔细推敲、对概念区分应该具有高度敏感、对译者注释应该给予高度重视,并且应该设法在译文之外的文本和语境中用比较通达的方式向读者传达在译文中未必能完全表达的翻译收获,在译者与译者之间进行坦诚深入的讨论协商,以尽可能在译名和译法上澄清问题,缩小分歧,逼近共识。Studying Western philosophy in China, one should be cautious of the possible confusions and blind spots resulted from relying too much on the Chinese translations of Western philosophy, from attempts to introduce into China those conceptual distinctions that were originally made in the Western context, and from attempts to make sense of those problems and concepts that are inherently entangled with the Western culture and language. In order to deal with these intellectual risks, the reader should carefully choose the translations and critically read the texts, and the translator should not only base his or her work on acceptable understandings of the originals, but also become more sen- sitive to conceptual distinctions contained in the originals, try to provide more and better translator's notes, express one's achievements from the process of translation in ways other than their transla- tions, and be more ready to take part in serious discussions among translators on terms and ways of translations that concern all of them.
