摘　　要：原型批评试图发现文学作品中反复出现的各种意象、叙事结构和人物类型,重新建构出原始意象,进而发现人类精神的共相,揭示艺术的本质。美国二十世纪小说家菲茨杰拉德的《了不起的盖茨比》无论在主题思想上,还是在人物性格的塑造上,都与古希腊神话当中的"潘多拉的盒子"有许多共同之处。而归结到本质上,两者都反映了欲望和灾难这个矛盾体。Antetype criticism was trying to discover various imago, narrative structures and characters types which appeared repeatedly, and reconstructing original imago, then revealling the common phase of human spiritual so that it can show the essence of art. 《The Great Gatsby》 writed by FitzGerald, who is a novelist in the 20th century, no matter in theme or characters has so many things in common with Pandora＇s box at Grecian mythology, putting in summary, the two of which both reflecting the contradictions with desire and disaster.
