The present study makes a small scale of analysis of intertextualiy in political speeches of leaders from China and USA. This research centers on such topics as whose words and what words are quoted in those speeches, which words are mostly or even repeatedly referred to,and what is the function of those intertextuality, with the purpose of discovering how Chinese and American political leaders make use of language, quotation in this paper,to realize different political objectives. Our findings show that there exists a tendency for leaders from the above two nations to choose distinct quotations, for distinct hidden ideology. In a word,Chinese leaders exploit quotes culturally, while American leaders use them politically.
