摘　　要：大学校长的教育背景和职业背景影响着校长个人的教育理念和办学实践,进而对于高校的发展发挥着重要作用。本文对29所上海本科院校校长的教育背景和职业背景进行了调查分析总结,并对上海和美国同层次高校的校长进行了对比分析,意在探讨大学校长身份与其教育背景和职业背景间的内在关系,为大学校长的科学选拔及其履职提供一定的理论指导。A president＇s educational and professional background influence his educational philosophy and practice and in turn play a very important role in the development of his school. Based on a survey of the educational and professional background of the presidents of 29 institutions of higher learning in Shanghai, this article makes a comparison between these school heads and their American counterparts with a view to offering some advice for the scientific selection of a president and the performance of his duties by exploring the internal relationship between his position as a president and his educational and professional background.
