Objective To study the expression of p53, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in bladder transitional cell carcinoma (BTCC) tissue and their relations with the pathological grades and clinical stages. Methods The expression of p53, VEGF and PCNA in 43 cases of BTCC tissue and 10 normal cases with bladder issues were determined by immunochemical SP methods. Results The positive expression rates of p53, VEGF, PCNA in BTCC were 48.84%, 67.44%, 62.79%. the negative expression of p53, VEGF, PCNA in normal cases with bladder issues. The significantly correlation was noted between p53, VEGF and the pathological grades, clinical stages of BTCC(P〈0.05). The significantly correlation was noted between PCNA and the pathological grades of BTCC(P〈0.05), but PCNA was not related to the clinical stages(P〉0.05). Conclusions p53, VEGF, PCNA are closely related to the pathological grades and clinical stages of BTCC. p53, VEGF may serve as an important index to estimate the pathological grades, clinical stages and prognosis of BTCC. PCNA may serve as an auxiliary marker to estimate the pathological grades, clinical stages and prognosis of BTCC.
