Objective To study the effects of low-frequency transeranial magnetic stimulation on epileptic attack behavior in experimental epilepsy rats. Methods Rats were randomly divided into five groups. The acute epilepsy model was made by Lithium-Pilocarpine after pretreatment, the latent period and the performance of epilepsy seizures within 70 minutes after intrap- eritoneal injection of Pilocarpine were observed. Results The latency period in each of 0.3 Hz, 0.5 Hz, 0.8 Hz and 1.0 Hz group was prolonger than model group(P〈0.05 or P〈0.01). The times of epileptic attack behavior in 0.5 Hz group including nodding/tail-flick, beard shaking, anterior/hind limb tic, systemic tic and jump were less than those of model group respectively (P〈0.05 or P〈0.01) ,and the whole seizure level was less than that of model group,too(P〈0.05). Conclusion Appropriate transcranial magnetic stimulation could prolong the latent period of epilepsy seizures, diminish the symptom and level of epilepsy attack, and has conspicuous anti epilepsy effect.
