翻译视域下的林纾现象——兼论林纾的翻译

摘　　要：晚清时期的翻译家林纾开创了外国小说评介的先河,但其译作不尽完美,受到了鲁迅、刘半农等人的批评,钱锺书也撰文指出林纾的翻译是讹译的代表。正因为如此,从某种程度上讲,后人对林纾的印象贬大于褒。使用"林纾现象"这一概念来描述林译作品所呈现的特征,可引导人们对林纾进行合理的认识、公正的评价及客观的研究。通过对概念的系统论证和对现象产生根源的探究,指出了运用"林纾现象"这一概念的意义。Lin Shu, a translator in the late Qing Period, makes history with introducing the foreign novels. But Lin＇s translated works, not that satisfied, gained criticisms from Lu Xun, Liu Bannong and so forth; Qian Zhongshu also wrote that Lin＇s translations were the representatives of mistranslation. Thereby, to some extent, later people hold more negative impressions towards Lin Shu. This paper favors the notion of ＂Lin Shu Phenomenon＂ to describe the specialties of Lin＇s translations. It can lead to proper reorganization, fair evaluation and objective study on him. Through the work of systematically proving this notion and seeking the causes of the phenomenon, this paper hence states the significance of using the notion.
