摘　　要：语音象征指的是音具有意义这样一个概念,英诗与语音象征有着密切的关系,许多诗歌都是通过语音的运用来表达含义。有桂冠诗人称号的英国诗人Tennyson是成功运用语音象征的典范,通过运用语音象征的理论选析"The Eagle"和"The Break"两首诗歌中的诗节来说明语音是表意的重要手段。Sound symbolism refers to the concept that sounds can express meanings.English poems are closely related to sound symbolism.Many poems convey meanings by means of sounds.Tennyson,known as Poet Laureate,is a typical poet who made use of sound symbolism successfully.The following passage will selectively analyze his poems ＂The Eagle＂ and ＂The Break＂ from a perspective of sound symbolism.The purpose is to let us know sound is a significant way of delivering meanings.
