摘　　要：介绍了一阶偏微分方程特征线法的由来、几何意义及求解的基本思想.By the characteristic equation, the first - order partial differential equations translate into the system of ordinary differential equations. This is called the method of characteristics. The present paper introduces the origin, the geometric significance and the fundamental idea of solving the method of characteristics.
