港督轩尼诗“亲华人政策”思想根源探析

摘　　要：1877-1882年,香港第八任港督轩尼诗督港期间,推行一系列旨在尊重华人并改善其生存状况的"亲华人政策",掀起轩然大波。欧人一致反对,华人感激支持。结合轩尼诗的成长经历、抵港前的活动及其在港期间的言行进行分析,轩尼诗"亲华人政策"的思想根源主要在于两个方面:种族平等情结与人道主义精神。The eighth governor of Hong Kong(1877-1882),John Pope Hennessy distinguished himself by introducing a series of 'Pro-Chinese 'policies during his administration which was to respect Chinese and improve the situation of them which lifted a great disturbance in Hong Kong.After a review of Hennessy's whole life and his movement before Hong Kong and his saying and behavior in Hong Kong,the article considers that Hennessy's policy is rooted in his search for fair competition and humanitarianism.
