CT。Purpose To analyze the clinical and pathological characteristics of intracranial tumor in children and to improve the early diagnosis rate and therapeutic effect. Methods The clinical and pathological data were collected and analyzed in 254 cases of intracranial tumor in children. Results The cases of intracranial tumor in children accounted for 11.70% of all brain tumors in our hospital in the same time. The morbidity of brain tumors was higher in males(64.57%).The age of onset was higher in 9~12 years old(27.95%).The most frequent initial symptoms were headache, dizziness and vomiting(73.23%).Glioma was the most common brain tumors(50.79%) and the second was medulloblastoma(24.42%) in children.Childhood brain tumors often occurred in infratentorial region(57.09%).The positive rate of CT and MR was 94.09% and 100%,respectively.Conclusions Childhood brain tumors are more frequently affected in males than females. They often occur in infratentorial region.Glioma and medulloblastoma are two of the most common tumors of brain in children. The clinical symptom, location, tumor property and histological types are significantly different from that in adults.CT and MR are the routine examination and the positive rate of MR is higher than that of CT in the tumor diagnosis.
