摘　　要：传统评论经常从主题方面入手分析福斯特作品。本文认为对福斯特小说的文体学分析也能揭示其主题。本文借助Geoffrey N.Leech和Michael H.Short在《小说文体论》中提出的文体分析体系研究福斯特作品《霍华德庄园》,通过文本分析说明小说家运用词汇、叙事及话语手段揭示了两个阶级对立的现实,同时表达了作者＂联结＂的愿望。E.M.Forster was mainly active in British literary circle in the 1910s and 1920s.Traditional reviews often approach his works from his themes.This paper believes a stylistic analysis of Forster＇s novels helps to reveal his themes.By studying his Howards End with the help of the system put forward in Style in Fiction by Geoffrey N.Leech and Michael H.Short.The paper employs a text-based analysis to prove that the novelist＇s revelation of the reality of confrontation between two classes and a wish to ＂connect＂ is achieved through diction,narration,and discourse.
