Objective: To investigate the expressions of Ang - 2 and VEGF in breast cancer and its correlations with clinicopathological characteristics, and the association of Ang - 2 and VEGF in breast cancer. Methods: Expressions of Ang - 2 and VEGF in 46 breast invasive ductal carcinoma and 10 breast fibroadenoma spicemens were detected by immunohistochemical method(SABC). Results: Ang - 2 and VEGF positive expression rates were 56. 5% and 65.2% in 46 breast carcinomas respectively, which were significantly higher than in breast fibroadenomas. In high histological grade diseases Ang - 2 and VEGF positive rates were significantly higher than in low grade diseases. Ang - 2 and VEGF positive expressions were associated with axillary lymph node metastases. Ang - 2 and VEGF pos- itive rates were significantly higher in ER/PR negative group than in positive group. Significant correlations were found between Ang - 2 and VEGF expressions. Conclusion: Ang - 2 and VEGF over - expressions in breast caicinoma were significantly correlated with occurrence, development of breast cancer. Ang- 2 and VEGF cooperate in promoting the vascular growth of breast cancer. Ang -2 might serve as a valuable prognostic indicator in breast cancer.
