摘　　要：With the development of society,the globalization is the mainstream of world development.In the cross-cultural communication,if one is ignorant of the different systems of politeness principle,he or she is unable to have a good understanding of the other and can' t carry on communication further.So in English teaching,it's necessary for students to have a good command of the differences between English and Chinese politeness principles.In this paper,the author analyzed English and Chinese politeness principle and discussed about the cultural root for the differences as well as the application of politeness principle in colloquial English teaching.With the development of society,the globalization is the mainstream of world development.In the cross-cultural communication,if one is ignorant of the different systems of politeness principle,he or she is unable to have a good understanding of the other and can＇ t carry on communication further.So in English teaching,it＇s necessary for students to have a good command of the differences between English and Chinese politeness principles.In this paper,the author analyzed English and Chinese politeness principle and discussed about the cultural root for the differences as well as the application of politeness principle in colloquial English teaching.
