摘　　要：英语,作为全世界使用最广泛的语言,其发展大致经过三个阶段,即古代英语时期,中世纪英语时期和现代英语时期。在经历了长期的发展之后,英语依然保持着旺盛的生命力。其原因是多方面的,其中一个很重要的原因就是英语新词汇的不断涌现。文章就英语新词汇产生的原因和来源作一个探讨。English, as the most widely used language in the world, has undergone the development of three periods, namely, Old English period, Middle English period and Modem English period. After a long time development, English still remains vigorous. The reasons are many - faceted. One of the most important reasons is the constant emergence of English new words.
