Objective To analyze the findings of susceptibility weighted imaging(SWI) of cerebral venous angiomas and to study the diagnostic value of SWI in evaluation of cerebral venous angiomas. Methods MR imaging and SWI findings of cerebral venous angiomas in 10 cases were analysed. Results The lesions were single in 8 cases and multiple in 2 which in company with orbital angiomas. The single lesions mostly localized at upper tentorium(7/8 cases ) ,and multiple lesions were seen at both upper and down tentorium. On MR images, the enlarged draining veins were showed but the medullary veins were not in 5 cases, while the lesions in other 5 cases were not clearly showed or only showed as uneven signal intensity. 4 cases underwent enhanced scanning and the abnor mal veins were obvious enhanced like"caput medusae". SWI clearly showed the tiny medullary veins and enlarged draining veins and enlarged draining veins as typical"caput medusae"or branch--like low signal intensity, hemorrhage and carvernous angioma itself were also well showed by SWL Conclusion SW] can showed medullary veins and enlarged draining vein well, so it can be used in diagnosis and the following-tip of patients with cerebral venous angiomas.
