摘　　要：薛福成外交思想的形成不是偶然的,有着广泛而深刻的背景。千古变局的到来提出了抵御外辱的时代课题;晚清对外战略的调整导入了西方的外交气息;经世致用思潮让薛福成关注、倾心外交,并提供了初步的外交蓝本;长期的外交生涯为其积累了丰富的外交经验与知识。The formation of XUE Fu-cheng＇s diplomatic thoughts is not accidental but has its deep social causes.The change which China had never undergone set a new task which was to fight against foreign invasions.The adjustment of foreign policies by the late Qing Government was permeated with the Western thoughts.The pragmatism made XUE to pay more attention to diplomacy and involve himself in it.And he was able to form his diplomatic blueprint eventually.And he had accumulated the rich diplomatic experience and knowledge in the long-time diplomatic career.
