Objective To investigate into the protective effect of prostaglandin E1 on the dogs' hepatic tissue damaged by hepatic artery embolism. Methods 1.The experimental animals were randomly divided into three groups. The dogs of Group A were injected physiological saline into hepatic artery. The dogs of Group B were injected simple lipiodol into hepatic artery. The dogs of Group C were injected lipiodol combined prostaglandin E1 into hepatic artery.2.Remark on the applied value of prostaglandin E1's protection and cure in liver injury resulted from TACE.Results The experimental results were that in Group B obvious hepatic injury was observed in the liver of dogs, such indexes as ALT,AST and LDH,etc.,were increased remarkably, and piecemeal necrosis of liver cell were observed in histopathology. In Group C,liver cell degeneration was observed in the dogs' liver, but there was no obvious piecemeal necrosis in the liver lobule.Such biochemical indexes as ALT,AST,and LDH,etc.,were increased early. Conclusion Prostaglandin E1 can effectively prevent injury to normal liver tissue from hepatic artery embolism.
