摘　　要：詹姆斯.乔伊斯是举世公认的意识流文学大师,同时也是英国现代派文学的开创者之一。乔伊斯成为伟大作家有着内外因素,但他身上也存在的各种各样的缺点和弱点,甚至是一些荒谬可笑的东西。但是就是这样一个时代逆子,为了艺术追求,或通过艺术来达到拯救精神麻痹瘫痪的爱尔兰人而自愿自我放逐,在精神上和肉体上远离了自己的祖国,摆脱了令人困扰不堪的社会、文化和宗教环境。在自我放逐中,他拥有了梦想中的精神自由,得以在艺术世界中自由驰骋。James Joyce is one of the well-known literature masters of Stream of Consciousness Fiction and the pioneer of modernist literature of England.Though,inside factors and outside factors contribute him to becoming a great writer,he had varied shortcomings and weakness,and even some absurd things.He,however,who was a treasoner,experienced self-imposed exile in pursuit of the art pursue and for saving Irish in moral paralysis and was apart from his homeland mentally and physically in order to break away from the baffling society,culture and religion atmosphere.Only when he exiled himself,could he have spiritual freedom in his dream and let his imaginations soar freely in the art world.
