摘　　要：文章从文化交流角度探讨注释法在翻译中的十大使用场合:为专用名词提供附加的文化信息,保留原语的形象表示法,处理译语中的文化空缺现象,解释不同的风俗习惯,对文字游戏提供文化信息,为典故提供文化信息,解释文化信息过载的译语句子,为译语读者提供文化背景以加深译语读者的理解,指出本身语意不清的原语句子,翻译原文中用第三语言写的词、词组成或句子。It is discussed in this paper the major situations for the application of making footnotes in translation from the angle of cultural exchange.Footnotes are used to provide supplementary cultural data on proper names,retain figurative expressions,explain cultural voids and contradictory customs,provide cultural information on word puzzles and allusions,explain culturally over-loaded sentences of TL text,provide cultural background for TL reader to understand the translation better,indicate the original text that does not make sense,and translate words,phrases,or sentences in a third language of the SL text.
