摘　　要：习语是人们在劳动、生产和生活过程中长期社会实践的总结,是人类智慧的结晶。习语在形成过程中,受到了地域环境、饮食文化、宗教信仰、历史事件等诸多因素的影响。地理环境与人类的生存最密切相关,中英两国所处地理位置的不同,对汉英习语的形成影响很大。本文探讨了汉英习语中受地域环境影响的部分,旨在帮助学习者更深层地理解英汉两种不同语言及其文化,提高其跨文化交际能力。Idioms,as the essence of languages,are closely related to people＇s work and life.The formation of idioms is affected by many factors,for instance,regional environment,food culture,religious beliefs,historical allusions and so on.This paper will focus on Chinese and English idioms and analyze the influence of the regional environment on them,aiming at helping English learners to have a better understanding of the two languages and their cultures and develop the learners＇ cross-cultural communicative abilities.
