摘 要:严复的古文书写与语言伦理可以从三个方面来观照:一是其"声与神会"与"讲求事理"的文章观,因其"事理"内涵的变化突破了八股文书写的某些边界;二是严复古文书写中蕴含的新机和压制性因素;最后是其古文书写中的语言伦理观念。借此可以概括从晚清至五四时期严复的"文"与"言"的基本面貌和价值取向。Yan Fu's writings in classical Chinese and his language ethics can be observed and interpreted from the following three perspectives:his pursuit of "matching sound with meaning" and his advocacy of "writing with substantial contents",which posed a test on the limits of the eight-part essays; the new potentials and the suppressed factors in his works; the language ethics manifested in his writings in classical Chinese. These three dimensions can characterize the transition from "literary language" to "vernacular language" and the value-orientation in the period from the late Qing Dynasty to the May Fourth Movement.
