摘 要:本文围绕教育思想、培养目标和教学模式三个问题,分析晚清外语人才培养的特色,即以"中体西用"为教育指导思想,以复合型人才为主要培养目标,以"翻译实践主导,兼顾人文教育"为教学模式,揭示其对当下外语人才培养的启示:大力培养国学基础扎实、实践能力强的高端外语人才,满足中外文化交流和社会经济发展的需要;优化复合型人才培养模式,利用学校办学优势,明确培养目标,突出培养特色;系统设计翻译技能培养方案,同时创新专业知识课程,打通学科边界,改善学习者的人文知识结构,彰显外语教育的人文属性。This paper examines the characteristics of the training of foreign language professionals in the late Qing dynasty in terms of its educational ideology,objective and instructional model.It is found that the principle 'Chinese essence served by Western technology' was adopted as the guiding educational ideology,training 'inter-disciplinary talent' was set as its objective,and translation skills and humanistic quality as the kernel target in instruction.These characteristics have the following implications for today's foreign language learner training:learners' knowledge of Chinese culture should be enriched and their practical skills and abilities improved in order to meet the needs of cross-cultural communication and social economic development;the model of training inter-disciplinary talent should be optimized and its characteristics made more prominent;a systematic programme of translation instruction should be designed;and a curriculum for giving the students a humanistic cultivation should be initiated so as to keep in balance instrumentality and humanity in foreign language education and instruction.
