摘　　要：近代中西文化的冲突与融合,导致了近代中国深刻的文化变迁。在此进程中,薛福成以"中西会通"作为处理中西关系的基本目标和价值判断,运用"体用"、"道器"、"新旧"等中国传统哲学范畴,确定了对待两者交融会通的基本准则,并以"西学中源"说与"西法为公共之理"说作为论证,主张在开放的心态中保持着本民族文化的独立自主,初步展示了中国近代文化发展中西交融会通的发展方向。这一努力是积极的,但也突出表现了近代新陈代谢的思想变迁中存在的"欲新还旧"的时代特点:以传统的文化架构容纳西学。这是时代造成的必然局限。In the 19th century,an unprecedented tremendous change took place in China,the sharp attacks take place between the different civilization of the Chinese and the western.Chinese civilization fall into a deepgoing changes never met.As the intellectual who grown？ up after the Opium War,XueFucheng＇s views on cultural advocate to defend the independence of the national culture with the open and positive mind,he adopt the blend with the Chinese and the western as the objection by treat the relationship between the Chinese and the western,his thought reflecting the developmental direction of the cultural in modern China tentatively.
