摘　　要：在《刽子手之歌》中,诺曼.梅勒对写作技巧的不确定、写作内容的不确定和隐含的创作意向的表征,表明了他与沃尔夫冈.伊瑟尔在其读者批评理论中所提出的"空白"、"否定"和"否定性"这三个不确定性范畴有着紧密的联系。通过对否定性的探索,读者可以揭示出梅勒在对待盲从主义和个人主义的对立以及犯罪和法律系统的对立方面的不确定性立场。一方面,梅勒清楚地知道死刑的公正性和重要性,并意图歌颂那些为加里宣判并执行死刑的刽子手们;另一方面,梅勒对加里作为一个智力超群的嬉皮士深表同情,对他的个人主义反抗精神深表赞赏,并意图为加里这个刽子手而放声歌唱。Mailer＇s indeterminate employment of writing strategies and writing content,and deliberately unformulated writing intention in The Executioner＇s Songare in line with Iser＇s conception of indeterminacy in terms of the blank,the negation and the negativity.The exploration of the negativity reveals Mailer＇s indeterminate stance towards the contradiction between conformism and individualism as well as that of crime and punishment.On one hand,Mailer is consciously aware of the justice and significance of the capital punishment,so he intends to praise the executioners of Gilmore.On the other hand,Mailer feels sorry for Gilmore as a rather intelligent hipster and is in great sympathy with his rebellious and individual spirits,so he intends to sing the song to the executioner Gilmore.
