Objective: To explore if chromium exposure can affect normal neurobehavioral development of children. Methods: Two hundred and twenty-five children aged from 3 to 7 lived at Guiyu town were selected as subjects. The chromium level of venipuncture blood samples was determined with graphite atomizer absorption spectrophotometer.Parents and teacher were asked to fill out Parent Symptom Questionnaire and Teacher Rating Scale(TRS)to investigate the children behavior problem.Questionnaires for parents were used for analysis of related factors. Results: Children's blood chromium level mean was(174.3±11.0)μg/L.Mother involving in e-waste dismantling work and time of engaged in the work affected children blood chromium level.High chromium group children had higher scores than low chromium group of hyperactivity index of TRS in girls. The children blood chromium levels were positively correlated with behavior factor scores of conduct problems,inattentive,impulsivity-hyperactivity and hyperactivity index of TRS.Conclusion: Chromium pollute in electronic waste recycling area affects blood chromium level of children, which might impede the children's neurobehavior development.
