Economic Education for Undergraduate Students in Japan:The Status Quo and Its Problem

摘  要:笔者对近些年来经济学院的报考情况和入学情况,经济学专业学生毕业后的就业情况,以及一些高校经济学院基础经济学相关课程设置情况等方面进行了调查和研究;对数学知识对经济学教育的影响也进行了研究。笔者还将日本学生和美国学生的经济学知识水平进行了对比;证明在日本,层次较高大学的学生和层次较低大学的学生对经济学知识的掌握有一定的差距。这两类学生间经济学知识的差异可能会促使经济学专业本科教育发生改变。Undergraduate economics education has become a serious largely derived from the complicated economic contents, a rapid c problem in these years in Japan. It is hange of current economy, decreased scholastic attainments among students, and the disconnection of economic instruction between senior high school and university. The authors survey the recent change of applicants to and enrollments in the faculty of economics, the career economics majors pursue on graduation, and the coursework of economics faculty in some universities focusing on instruction in the basic of economics. A mathematical knowledge is the key to understanding of modem economics, but examinees can gain admission to the economics faculty of a private university without taking an entrance examination in mathematics. This raises a math problem to be solved in many universities. Then, the authors compare the results of TUCE -4 micro and macro exam to feature the economic understanding of Japanese students as against that of American students. There is a gap of e- conomic literacy between students in high -ranked universities and those in low -ranked universities in Japan. It is proved by means of a regression analysis. A difference of economic literacy between them may cause a change of undergraduate economic education.
