Objective To explore the expression of nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB) and its relationship with clinicopathological parameters in triple-negative breast cancer(negative estrogen receptor, negative progesterone receptor and negative HER-2).Methods Immunohistochemical assays were performed to determine the expression of NF-κB in 137 cases of triple-negative breast cancer and 132 cases of non-triple negative breast cancer. The relationships between immunohistochemicaI results and clinicopathological data and prognosis were analyzed. Results The positive expression rate of NF-κB was 73.7%(101/137) in triple negative breast cancer, which was higher than 46.2%(61/132)in non-triple negative breast cancer, with statistical significance(P=0.000).It correlated to VEGF(P=0.024),p53(P=0.0486),tumor grade(P=0.028),node status(P=0.038),5-year disease free survival(P=0.014) and 5-year overall survival(P=0.008) in triple negative breast cancer, but only related to VEGF(P=0.038),node status(P=0.040) and 5-year disease free survival(P=0.021)in non-triple negative breast cancer. Conclusion The expression of NF-κB is high, and it is a significant prognostic factor in triple-negative breast cancer.
