摘　　要：通过对加拿大作家玛格丽特.劳伦斯《占卜者》中主人公莫拉格自我寻求历程的分析,揭示了作品的主题:认识自我是人生中最艰难且无可逃避的原使命,历史、遗产和记忆对于个体的自我建构意义非凡,只有接受过去才是自我寻求的真正出路。这一观点为马纳瓦卡系列小说中的前几位女主人公对于人生的追问提供了答案,《占卜者》因此被看作马纳瓦卡系列的大结局。The Diviners by Margaret Laurence is the last one of the Manawaka cycle.By analyzing Morag＇s self-seeking journey,this paper reveals the theme that self-awareness is the hardest,unavoidable and most important original mission of a person,and history,heritage and memory are of special significance to one＇s self-identity construction.Accepting one＇s own past is the only way out.Apparently,this viewpoint provides the answer to the questions presented by the heroines in the previous works of the Manawaka cycle and The Diviners is therefore considered to be the finale.
