Decomposition of dimethyl sulfide(DMS) in air by dielectric barrier plasma discharge assisted with active carbon(AC) was investigated experimentally. The results show that, under a fixed energy input density, introducing active carbon into plasma reactor can promote the decomposition of DMS obviously;the decomposition of DMS increases with increasing energy density input, and when the energy input density is more than 288 J·L-1,the decomposition of DMS exceeds 98%.While the decomposition of DMS decreases with increasing initial DMS concentration and gas flow rate.It was found that, under the experiment conditions, the humidity has an obvious effect on the decomposition of DMS,and the relative humidity of 25%(20℃)is most beneficial for the decomposition of DMS.The by-products of the decomposition can be effectively controlled by introducing active carbon into the dielectric barrier plasma discharge. After introducing AC,the concentrations of O3 and SO2 in outlet gas reduce from 242 mg·cm-3 and 140 mg·cm-3 to 20 mg·cm-3 and 50 mg·cm-3,respectively.The added active carbon can keep high adsorption activity for 80 h under an energy input density of 450 J·L-1.
