摘　　要：“九一一”恐怖袭击之后，美国高校外语教育面临培养目标短视、课程体系离散、师资权力结构失衡、合格教师缺乏、教师培养模式存在缺陷等一系列危机。在美国现代语言协会的领导下，美国大学外语专业确立了“跨文化跨语言能力”专业培养目标，开始设计新的课程体系，重塑外语院系，构建合格、合作的师资队伍，探索更加合理的外语人才培养模式。Since 9/11, American collegiate FL （foreign langnage） programs have been confronted with a series of problems which include nearsighted objectives, dissociated curricula, imbalanced faculty power, lack of qualified teachers, flawed teacher development plans and so on. However, under the leadership of the Modern Language Association, American universities and colleges have launched reform initiatives to redesign FL curricula, transform FL departments, and train qualified teaching staff, so that sounder undergraduate FL programs with trans-cultural and trans-linguistic competence （TTC） as the ultimate objective would be developed.
