摘　　要：曼斯菲尔德的短篇小说通过细致入微地刻画人物的情感世界,深刻地展现出了现代人的情感困境。普通人的情感处于一片荒漠,在爱情追求中,人们同样面临无法摆脱的情感困境。不同的阶级之间更是有着无法跨越的情感鸿沟。曼斯菲尔德面对无所不在情感困境,试图通过建立空中楼阁般的心灵花园作为解脱的途径,最终只能成为一种无奈的逃避。Through the minute depictions of the emotional world, Mansfield＇ s short stories profoundly demonstrate the emotional plight of modern people. Feelings of ordinary people are alienated from true emotion. When in the pursuit of love, people can not escape from the emotional plight. Among different classes there exists the emotional gap which is hard to cross. Facing the pervasive emotional plight, Mansfield tried to build a spiritual garden as a means of liberation, but ultimately it could only be proved a helpless escape.
