摘　　要：“离散”问题是全球化背景下当今世界普遍的、不可回避和不可忽略的社会问题和政治问题，也是扎迪·史密斯的小说《白牙》所展现的重要主题之一。本文通过分析《白牙》中的几位主要的“离散”者个体，探讨了小说中与“离散”主题相关的一系列问题，如“离散”者的本民族文化情结、宗教情结，“离散”人群的团体作用和影响，“离散”者身份的多层次性以及潜在的消除“离散”者与居住国原住民之间的各种隔阂的可能的途径等。通过分析“离散”这一宏大主题在小说中的展现，本文揭示出了《白牙》这部作品所承载的重大社会意义和政治意义。Diaspora concerns are the unavoidable social and political problems which are stunningly wide-spread and can never be overlooked in the nowadays globalized world. They also form an important theme in Zadie Smith＇s White Teeth. Through the analysis of the diasporic individuals in White Teeth, this paper deals with a series of topics concerning diaspora, such as diasporas＇ national and religious complex, the influence of diaspora communities, the multi-levels in the identity of diasporas, and the possible ways to reduce the barriers between diasporas and host residents. Through the analysis of how such a grand theme is exemplified in the novel, the important social and political significance implied in White Teeth has thus been unveiled.
