摘　　要："侯"字的甲骨文形体为"从厂从矢"的会意字,其形体义为人执箭位于垂直陡峭的崖壁之状。"侯"一词完整的发生背景为:处于边境的方侯,拥有武器,从事伺望任务;而"侯"一词本义域的构成则可重构为:方侯[义素(1)]执箭位于垂直陡峭的崖壁上伺望[义素(2)]。Hou（侯） in oracle bone inscriptions as associative compounds was belonged to Chang（厂） and Shi（矢）,and its form meaning was a scene that a human holding arrow was standing on the sharp-cut cliff.The whole background of Hou（侯） was the vessel on the frontier had weapon and carried on the mission of reconnaissance.However the original meaning of Hou（侯）can be another explained that the vessel was carrying on the mission of reconnaissance holding arrow and standing on the sharp-cut cliff.
