Objects:To evaluate the influences of platform switching technique on both hard and soft tissues of single implant in esthetic zone and explore the clinical effect of this technique with the aim of providing guidance for clinical work.Methods:45 patients who were partially edentulous in esthetic zone were randomly divided into 3 groups, with 15 patients in each.3i implants with the platform butt-joint technique were placed in patients of group A.Osstem GS II implants with the smooth slop platform switching technique and Ankylos implants with the rough plane platform switching technique were used in group B and C respectively.Group A acted as a control group, group B and C acted as the experimental groups. The degree of bone loss around implants and condition of soft tissues were evaluated after 12 months of loading. Results:The difference in the degree of marginal bone loss and the condition of soft tissues around implants were statistically significant between group A and group B or group C(p0.01),while the difference between group B and group C were not statistically significant(p0.05).Conclusion:Platform switching technique can help to reduce bone loss in the area around the neck of implants, keep marginal bone height around implants and ensure an esthetic results in the esthetic zone.A further observation is still needed.
