摘　　要：英语中名词后缀-ation及其音位变体的产生过程,传统的词汇学和音系学只给出了变化过程,而忽视了其形成过程,拟从优选论的角度出发,解释其形成过程。Optimality Theory is the main trend of current linguistic theories study.Its theoretical perspectives and scientific analysis have brought linguistics to a new epoch.This paper applies the Optimality Theory to explain the formation of English noun affix-ation.
