摘　　要：霍夫曼斯塔尔是奥地利象征主义戏剧的主要代表人物,也是德语文学中的天才人物。他的主要成就在戏剧和诗歌方面。他的象征主义戏剧论的主要观点在于:一、世纪末感伤和听天由命的情绪宣泄,二、寓意、拟人的象征表现手法,三、"纯艺术"的诗意表现。Hofmannstahl is the main representative figure of Austrian Symbolism drama and also the genius of German Literature.His main attainments are in drama and poetry.His main symbolism dramatic theory viewpoints are： first,sentiment of ＂the end of the century＂ and giving vent to enthusiasm of resigning oneself to one’s fate;second,symbolic technique of expression of implication and personification;and third,poetic sentiment expression of ＂pure art＂.
