摘　　要：异化是人类生存状态中的一种现象,在不同的历史阶段,"异化"的表现形式和形成的原因不尽相同。在资本主义社会里,人被异化的现象尤为突出。克莱恩在其早期创作的几部小说中揭示了人被异化的尴尬处境,但在其后期小说中,克莱恩却转向刻画人类为反异化所作出的种种努力。从揭示异化到反异化的主题嬗变,折射出斯蒂芬·克莱恩从自然主义向人文主义的思想转型。Alienation is a common phenomenon in human beings＇ existing condition. In different historical period, the forms and causes of alienation may not be the same. In the capitalist society, man＇s being alienated appears salient. In his earlier novels, Stephen Crane disclosed man＇ s embarrassing situation because of being alienated, while in his latter novels, he turned to depicting man＇ s effort for anti - alienation. The thematic evolution from disclosing alienation to anti -alienation reflects Stephen Crane＇s ideological transformation from naturalism to humanism.
