摘　　要：作为一种语篇策略,隐喻在E.B.怀特的名篇《猪之死》的语篇连贯和展开中发挥着积极的作用。隐喻具有优选性、映射性、蕴涵性。优选性有助于对死亡隐喻的挖掘和优选;语块映射实质上映射的是逻辑联系;蕴涵性可用作语义衔接的手段。As a textual strategy, metaphor contributes much to the discourse coherence and extension of Death of a Pig, a famous es- say by E. B. White. Metaphor has the features of selective preference, mapping and entailment. Selective preference is conducive to exploring and selecting death metaphors; the mapping of chunks maps logical relationships in essence; entailment can be used as a means of semantic cohesion.
