“源流”、“体用”之辩——评严复对近代科学的认识

摘　　要：中西交通中,近代科学逐步走入国人的视野。"西学中源"说与"中体西用"论经由部分具有开放精神的士人的阐发成为在一定时期内有利于引进西学的理论,它们从一个侧面生动地展示了近代科学移植入中国的历程,具体地代表了一个时代的国人对科学的认识与看法,但其理论的应时性也为它们最终嬗变为阻碍中国科学事业发展的绊脚石埋下了伏笔。对此,严复基于对近代科学的切身体察与对中国科学发展的炙热关怀,对两种对待西学的观点进行了条剖缕析与批判,同时也生动地体现了他对近代科学的认识。During the cultural exchange between China and the West, Chinese people have been contacting modem science. To some extent, the idea ＂The Western Culture Originated from China＂ and the principle of ＂Chinese learning for fundamentals, Western learning for use＂ as two constructive theories embodied the process of modern science coming from West to China and showed the Chinese people＇ s view on modern science. On the other hand, because of their temporarily appropriate nature, the two theories become obstacles when science in China needs further development. Through the criticism on the two theories, we should recognize Yan Fu＇ s cognition of modem science.
