宇宙之轴:T.S.艾略特诗歌中的秩序文化观

摘　　要：国内外研究T．s．艾略特的学者都注意到，他曾接受过不同宗教文化影响。但大多强调诗人在皈依基督教前后的不同宗教观，较少探究其思想转变中存在的内在一致性。本文通过分析宇宙之轴的象征意义，发现艾略特所迷恋的乃是基督教及异教文化共同向往的宇宙中心秩序。艾略特诗歌中的宇宙之轴体现为前期诗歌中的楼梯、繁殖神、施雨水者因陀罗，以及后期诗歌中的“静止点”等意象。这反映了诗人对不同宗教文化背后隐含的秩序文化观的洞悉，进而体现了诗人比较包容的宗教文化态度。Researchers on T. S. Eliot have observed the influence of several religions upon him. Their study has plaied more emphasis on Eliot＇s distinct religious ideas before and after his conversion to Christianity, while the continuity of his religious transformation has been scarcely investigated. By analyzing different images of ＂Axis Mundi＂ ,this study finds that both Christian and pagan cultures have a common imagination of the cosmic center. ＂Axis Mundi＂ finds full expression in such images as staircase, god of fertility, the water releaser Indra in T, S. Eliot＇s early poetry,and the ＂still point＂ in his later poetry. The different representations of ＂Axis Mundi＂ reflect Eliot＇s deep insight into cultural order of different religions, and thus further manifest his inclusive cultural outlook.
