words are traditionally classified according to their syntactic functions rather than their conceptualized process or cognitive meaning. Cognitive linguistics admits that formally language can be divided into noun, verb, adjective, etc. but semantically and cognitively noun is not only the name of a thing but also can refer to a process or action. The reason is that in cognition we can see a process or action as a thing. Similarly, adverbs and adjectives can be dynamic ;verbs are not always dynamic, but sometimes can be stative. This thesis tries to study and examine whether there is such a trend that English tends to be stative and Chinese tends to be dynamic and the cognitive source and on this basis seeks to find efficient way of word class conversion in trandation.
